After I posted our gender reveal party, many of you wanted a tutorial on how I made the tissue paper pom-poms.  Well, today’s your lucky day– it’s tissue paper pom-pom making time, people.

Not only will I show you how to make tissue paper pom-poms, I’m going to show you how to get 5 tissue paper pom-poms (1 large, 2 medium, 2 small) out of one $.99 package of tissue paper.

These are really easy to make once you get the hang of it.  It’s also a good mindless TV watching crafting activity.  But you have to “watch” something you don’t really have to pay attention to since you’ll need to watch what you’re doing with making the poms.  I “watched” old Grey’s Anatomy episodes on Lifetime while I made the majority of mine for the gender reveal party.

Crochet Cute Little Flower - Free Pattern

Crochet Cute Little Flower 

Skill level: Easy
Supplies: Crochet thread - mercerized cotton #10, crochet hook US 7 (1.50 mm), yarn needle. You may choose any other thread (yarn) and hook, but the size of your flower will be different.
Yarn Ideas: Aunt Lidia’s cotton thread, Aunt Lidia’s Bamboo crochet thread, Royale Classic crochet thread, DMC Traditions cotton thread.
Gauge: 9 st & 9 rows equal 1x1” square is single crochet stitches.
Finished size: 2.75” in diameter
Approximate time to complete this project: 45 min- 1 hr.
Abbreviations and stitches used: Ch – chain, (chs – chains), Sl st - slip stitch, st – stitch, (sts - stitches), Sc - single crochet.

It’s almost here my friends – the holiday season! In the crafting world we get to start a little earlier so that people have time to make stuff. DIY Shabby Chic Flower Wreath

OK, so I know I’m too late for Valentine’s day, but everyday is a good day to add some loving fun to your life with heart shapes, right? The basis for this wreath is learning how to make shabby chic flowers. Turns out it’s pretty easy to do and looks absolutely fabulous when it’s done. And of course you can make your wreath in any shape you want, I just happen to be in a loving mood.

How to Make a Wallet Shrine

Our Church of Craft project this month was Shrine Wallets. These are based on Mexican Shrine Wallets, which are small, tri-fold pocket shrines. Unfolded, they reveal pictures of saints, a miniature rosary, and a printed prayer folded up into a pocket. There’s a photo of one here. My version is a more generalized pocket shrine, which can commemorate anything you like. I love the idea of carrying one around in your bag as a reminder of your favorite people, places, or things.

I recently found some heavy weight crepe paper at a local discount store and so I couldn't resist making some large crepe paper flowers for a community gathering. Grouped together in a simple metal pitcher, they looked great, and while not exactly quick to whip up, they are certainly festive and can be enjoyed for quite some time!
