Crochet Sampler Afghan - free pattern

Crochet Sampler Afghan
Crochet Sampler Afghan

Started this project to learn new patterns and techniques, so this was perfect. Crocheted one square a month, so it was not a speedy project - just fun. Have now completed every square and having enjoyed the experience want to repeat it, the blanket is smaller than I expected so will crochet more squares, keeping the same colours but changing the lay out.

The hat itself is very easy to make. It is crocheted as a single piece and can be easily made larger or smaller. There is no need to worry about gauge as the size of the hat is adjustable to your individual needs.

Another wee friend is coming in January and this blankie will help keep him warm.   This is my Textured, Random Striped Blankie.
Random stripe pattern generated using the Random Stitch Generator, beware it is addictive.  It took me a good two hours to get a pattern that I loved, and then I still tweaked it.

The finished size is, 36" x 42".

This delicate tank top is perfect for the summer months.  Any child will look precious while wearing this sweet top. Pattern is designed from the top down.  The bodice is created as a band and the shell portion of top is worked off of that band.  Arm straps and decorative edges are then added to the top of the bodice.  Pattern includes links to optional flower and leaves embellishments, both free patterns.

Blackberry Salad Striped Afghan

Blackberry Salad Striped Afghan

The Blackberry Salad Striped Baby Blanket pattern was originally written up for a baby sized blanket, but of course, it can work for everything from a dishcloth to a king sized bedspread! This past week I worked up one in a size that’s great for a throw, wrap, or lap-ghan. Or maybe an accent/decorator blanket. Whatever you call it, it all worked out.

Square Navajo Lap Blanket

Square Navajo Lap Blanket
Square Navajo Lap Blanket

The traditional crocheted Navajo afghan is crocheted across with each row having the beginning and ending yarn as fringe. To avoid having fringe on a lap blanket, this is designed to be crocheted in the round so that the affect of having the crochet stitches all facing the same side are preserved without having to start and stop for each row.

This pattern is written using four colors, but the blanket can be done in any number of colors and numbers of rows per color.

Behold, The Crooked Ripple afghan is a new and very exciting take on the ripple pattern. Spice up your traditional ripple crochet afghan by following this pattern. Watch as your ripples have a "hiccup" and create a sort of heartbeat type ripple. This pattern is definitely a must-try for those looking for a pattern that's a little out of the ordinary.

I am sure many of you who can crochet fairly well may not know how to crochet a granny ripple. While I was crocheting my vibrant pillow 3 I thought I would make a tutorial on granny ripple but for some reason I couldn't do it then. Here it is now.

Hello Friends...some of you may remember last srping I was working on a blanket for my new little niece or nephew to be.  As promised, I've finally gotten around to completing the pattern for the baby blanket.  It's a fairly simple and quick project as the blanket is stoller/crib sized.  Although it can easily be modified to whatever size you like.

How to Read a Crochet Pattern

Once you’ve learned the basic crochet stitches, you’ll want to start your first pattern. (If you need assistance with learning basic crochet stitches, visit www.LearnToCrochet.com.) There are hundreds of beautiful designs available for you to make, but for a beginner, they may look scary because they are written in what looks almost like a foreign language.

That’s because crochet patterns are written using many abbreviations and terms, which save space and make patterns easier to read. So the first thing you need to do is become familiar with the abbreviations and terms.

Some of them are easy to understand, like these that represent basic stitches:

How to Crochet a Heart

How to Crochet a Heart
Crochet  Heart

Hi, I am Iuliana and I am so excited to share my first contributor post with you guys. I have enjoyed following Linda’s creative genius for awhile now, and  only hope that my projects will also be of value to you guys.
Today I want to share a tutorial for Mini Crochet Hearts, that you can use to make a garland, or whatever strikes your fancy.
For this project you will need to know  how to crochet a basic single crochet, and double crochet. If you are not sure about a certain step, there are really good crochet videos out there, which is what I consulted in my first days of my crocheting adventure, or you can go over to Hip2Thrift for more crochet tips and tutorials.
For this project I used the following Supplies:
- Worsted Weight Yarn (these crochet hearts are quite small, so you can use scraps of yarn)
- H crochet hook (you can make the hearts bigger or smaller simply by using bigger or smaller size crochet hooks)
- scissors

There are a lot of crochet heart patterns out there but a lot of them work in round using a variety of different stitches and the "magic ring" which I know a lot of you struggle with. Fear not! This heart pattern is very simple, working solely in rows of single crochets. You could use them as an appliqué on a hat, scarf, for a hair clip, garland, gift topper, or sew two together and stuff lightly for a puffy heart!
