Like many of you,  I often have overflowing bins of scraps.   There is something so satisfying about saving and eventually using up even the smallest bits of fabric, knowing that you utilized that well loved print or solid to the nearest inch or so.   I enjoy trying out differnt ways  to use these precious scraps with a variety of  sewing and quilting projects.

Peony Coffee Filter Flowers Tutorial

Peony Coffee Filter Flowers

Ok here is a little tutorial on how I created these beauties... I took photos from my phone as I went along!

First you will need 10 dyed coffee filters.I dyed these with fabric dye that I got at Michaels. I created many different shades of pink by mixing the dye with water to create lighter/saturated colors. You could also use koolaid, teas, coffee, easter egg kits, food coloring. Just play with the colors to get them right!

I like to use 3 different shades of the same color for each flower with the two darkest on the top and then mix the other shades as you layer.
